The Union of Bulgarian Artists marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the most recognizable and beloved Bulgarian illustrators - artist Lyuben Zidarov. On this occasion, an exhibition was organized with works owned by 20 art galleries in the country, private collections and the Zidarov family. The exhibition in the gallery at 6 Shipka Street also includes daily screenings of the film "The Magic Mirror of Lyuben Zidarov" directed by Maria Nikolova.

Having devoted more than seven decades to the art of the book, Lyuben Zidarov was among the creators of the modern trend in Bulgarian illustration after the 1960s, and is also among the founders of the comic book in Bulgaria and of the first Bulgarian illustrated children's magazine “Nightingale” (1957). His rich creative biography as an illustrator includes hundreds of classic works, including "Andersen's Tales", "The Tales of Scheherazade", "Treasure Island", "The Count of Monte Cristo", "The Prince and the Pauper", "Uncle Tom's Cabin" and many more. As an artist with a characteristic, inimitable satirical-poetic style, Lyuben Zidarov left a remarkable legacy. The exhibition is open until March 23, 2024.
