New genomic techniques are removing "nuisance" genes

At the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, researchers presented developments in the field of genomic technologies used for agricultural purposes and medical treatment methods. In the form of lectures, the method of "cutting out" defective genes was presented, but without specific data on possible negative consequences in the DNA chain, Radio Bulgaria learned from its source. 

According to a decision of the Court of Europe, NGTs represent a modification of the genome, which in practice means a genetically modified organism.
