Hundreds of guests honoured the memory of the Apostle of Freedom at the Kakrina inn - the last refuge of Vasil Levski - Bulgaria's greatest national hero, where he was captured by the Turkish authorities in December 1872. Today is the 151st anniversary of the death of Vasil Levski, who was hanged in what was then the outskirts of Sofia.

Wreaths and flowers were laid in the courtyard of the inn in front of the monument to Levski, next to the centuries-old elm tree - a witness to his capture. Representatives of local and central authorities, institutions and students were also present. The courtyard of the inn was filled with young families who came with their children to tell them about the work of the Apostle and his last days. The participants of the tourist march "In the Footsteps of the Apostle" also arrived at the Kakrina Inn. Representatives of the National Association "Tradition" re-enacted the capture of Vasil Levski on 27 December 1872.

The culmination of the national celebrations will be at 6pm in Sofia, in front of the Apostle's monument in the capital.
