At a joint briefing with the President of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, who is on an official visit to Bulgaria, President Rumen Radev commented on a statement made by French President Emmanuel Macron on February 26 at an international conference in support of Ukraine in Paris that sending of Western ground troops to Ukraine is not ruled out in the future. "Sending NATO troops to Ukraine would mean a global clash," Radev warned. He also said that he expects Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov to provide clarification on his statement of "readiness for bilateral security agreement between Ukraine and Bulgaria".

According to Radev, Ukraine cannot be left alone, but neither should rash actions be allowed as this could lead to a global military conflict.

At the meeting between the Bulgarian President and Nataša Pirc Musar, topics of discussion were the risks for the region stemming from Russia's war in Ukraine, the increased migratory pressure, the energy crisis, etc. The two presidents pointed out that Bulgaria and Slovenia were committed to working for stability in the region. They pointed out that there could be no security in Europe without stability in the Western Balkans.
