The leader of the Belarusian opposition, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, living in exile, is visiting Bulgaria. In an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio, she said that she wants to introduce the Bulgarian people to the struggle of Belarusians against the regime of President Alexander Lukashenko and for the independence of their country.

"On a political level, it is very important for me that Bulgaria, as a country with a voice in the European Union, understands that the future of Belarus is connected with democratic forces and that Lukashenko at the head of the country is a road to nowhere," she pointed out.

During her visit to Bulgaria, Tikhanovskaya met with the Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament, Rosen Zhelyazkov, who assured her that Bulgaria supports the efforts of the opposition in Belarus to establish a democratic socio-political order in the country.
