In Bucharest, where the congress of the European People's Party is being held, GERB leader Boyko Borissov insisted on the full membership of Bulgaria and Romania in Schengen, BTA has reported.
After admitting that for several years the Bulgarian border was not reliable, Borissov told the delegates that the country has done everything necessary to fulfill the conditions for membership. Borissov spoke of "Danube Bridge 2" and the queue of trucks with working engines that pollute the air and pointed out that this was not a working solution for Europe. "Neither Bulgaria nor Romania deserves to have people standing on the bridges 24/7", he pointed out.
The leader of GERB also announced the support of the Bulgarian delegation of GERB-SDS for Ursula von der Leyen's candidacy for a second term at the head of the European Commission.
