Energy workers and miners protest once again

Miners and energy workers from Stara Zagora region temporarily blocked traffic between Radnevo and Stara Zagora and the main road to Kazanlak and Nova Zagora.

The demands of the protesters include abolishing carbon emission payments from coal plants in the Maritsa East Basin until the construction of a plant for capturing the emissions. This will give competitiveness to electricity produced by coal plants. They also insist on the reclamation of the lands in the open-pit mining complex, with one part becoming agricultural land and the rest a forest fund, as per the concession agreement. The third request is not to unleash electricity prices from July 1, as the price increase would be unbearable for households.
