53% of Internet users in Bulgaria (over 2,800,000 people) are online shoppers, while in 2018-2019 they were a third of this figure. The Covid-19 pandemic gave a big boost to e-commerce in Bulgaria.

This was announced by Janet Naydenova from the Bulgarian E-commerce Association at a forum for responsible production and trade in Sofia. Naydenova pointed out for comparison that in the Scandinavian countries and Great Britain, online buyers account for 80-90% of internet users, which means that this niche in Bulgaria has great potential for development.

Regarding the location of the sellers, 94.4% are online stores located in Bulgaria, 32% - in the EU, 18% - outside the EU, in 1.5% of purchases the seller's country of origin is unknown.

Among the most searched online products and services are clothing, accommodation, hotel reservations, sporting goods (excluding sportswear), cosmetics, restaurant deliveries.
