BGN 72 million for salary increase in the state and municipal administration

The cabinet will approve BGN 72 million (EUR 36,8 million) for civil servants' salaries, outgoing Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov before today's government meeting. The sum will be distributed between the budgets of the ministry of education and science, the ministry of culture and municipalities to increase salaries in the administration of the ministries, for staff in the municipal administration and for the activities of museums, galleries, libraries and community centres." 

He added that the Cabinet would meet again this week to complete as many tasks as possible and ensure a smooth transition to the caretaker government.

Some BGN 32 million (EUR 16,3 million)  is also to be approved for the purchase of seventy-six upgraded passenger carriages for the state railway company BDZ. A further BGN 15 million (EUR 7,6 million) will be spent on screening for diseases affecting children's health and women's reproductive health. According to the Prime Minister, this measure is aimed at tackling the demographic crisis.
