"The head of the Military Intelligence service, Venelin Venev, maintains contact with the Russian services. I have such information," Atanas Atanasov, co-chairman of "Democratic Bulgaria", has told BNR.

According to him, a multi-purpose pre-election campaign is currently being held in order to compromise "We Continue the Change" - "Democratic Bulgaria". Part of this scheme is the operation against the head of "Customs Agency" Petya Bankova, who was appointed by Asen Vassilev (PP), as the aim of the operation is suggesting that there were smuggling channels that fill party pockets.

According to Atanasov, the attack on the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Zhivko Kotsev, is because of the upcoming elections, with the aim of "providing an umbrella over GERB and DPS vote-buyers". He also stated that as interior minister, Kalin Stoyanov, who was proposed for the same position in the new cabinet, served the interests of GERB and DPS.
