National Assembly approves amendments to railway law

Foreign companies to be allowed to operate rail services in Bulgaria, Parliament votes in first reading

Foreign companies will now be able to operate passenger rail services in Bulgaria, after an amendment to the Railway Transport Act was adopted in first reading by Parliament. 
The opposition was against it. According to Ivaylo Chorbov of Vazrazhdane, the bill favours private companies that will use public railway infrastructure and will not be accountable for the service they provide.
