MPs mull a motion of no confidence in the government

The leader of "Vazrazhdane", Kostadin Kostadinov, announced that he was filing a request for a vote of no confidence in the caretaker government of Dimitar Glavchev.

67 MPs from "Vazrazhdane", BSP and ITN have signed the draft decision, BNR reporter Maria Fileva informed. PP-DB were also invited to sign the request, but they refused. The request is motivated by "unprecedented political interference", which casts doubts on the possibility of organizing "fair elections". "Literally, a week after the appointment of this cabinet, the minister of foreign affairs was replaced after a statement by the chairman of GERB, Boyko Borissov. This creates an objective reason for doubting the fairness of the vote," Kostadinov said.

Earlier today, BSP leader Korneliya Ninova announced that the vote of no confidence would be filed only if the president did not replace the caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev.

Speaking to BNR-Plovdiv, professor of constitutional law at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", Nataliya Kiselova, commented that a vote of no confidence against a caretaker cabinet cannot be requested. She recalled that the body that appoints is the body that fires - in this case, the president.
