Fun physics experiments from all branches of physics, demonstrations of methods for searching for new worlds in space, the necessary conditions to call a planet ''Earth's twin'', meeting with Bulgarian exoplanet hunters at the Astronomy Department - all this is just part of the program at the Spring Open Day at the Faculty of Physics of Sofia University ''St. Kliment Ohridski''. It takes place on April 20, 2024, from 11:00 am to 15:30 pm. Organizers invite everyone who wants to spend a few interesting hours in the world of science.
The lecture part is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Department of Theoretical Physics, as well as to computing devices and their evolution - ''from abacus to computer''. And that's not all! A video conferencing bridge will be made with the European Organization for Nuclear Research - CERN in Switzerland on the occasion of its 70th anniversary, as well as 25 years since the beginning of Bulgarian participation in CERN's scientific projects. Professors from the Department of Atomic Physics are to participate at the presentation.
The main goal of the organizers is to remind of their anniversary - 135 years of teaching physics at the Sofia University, to showcase physics as a universal science capable of revealing new worlds to human knowledge, as well as an opportunity for professional realization, both locally and abroad."
