By adopting amendments to the Electricity Price Regulation Ordinance, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission marked the next stage of the liberalization of the electricity market, envisaging full liberalization of the wholesale electricity market as a stage of the full liberalization of the retail market for end household customers, the commission reports.

We recall that the start of the liberalization was postponed by the MPs from 01.07.2024 to 01.07.2025, when EWRC’s obligation to regulate prices ceases. In the transition period from this date until 31.12.2025, final suppliers will be obliged to supply household customers at regulated prices determined by a program of the Council of Ministers. The regulator will determine a monthly compensation to cover part of the costs of end customers for purchased electricity from an end supplier at regulated prices.
