The Bulgarian Electricity System Operator and the US Trade and Development Agency may cooperate in the implementation of the study activities for the East-West Energy Corridor, which would connect the operators of Turkey, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro and Italy.

This became clear at a meeting in Sofia between Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov and the regional director for the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Asia of the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), Carl Kress

USTDA finances key projects and collaborates with companies to develop sustainable infrastructure and stimulate economic development in partner countries, the Department of Energy said.

The participants in the meeting discussed specific project proposals in the nuclear energy field, including fuel diversification for the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, nuclear waste management, hydrogen development, power grid expansion and more.
