"I hope that the politicians in North Macedonia have understood that the election campaign is over and if their destructive rhetoric and behaviour turns into real actions, it means pushing their country towards isolation and away from the EU, which is to the detriment of the citizens of the country and the state itself", Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev told journalists regarding the fact that during the swearing-in ceremony as president of the Republic of North Macedonia, the first female president of North Macedonia referred to her country as "Macedonia", violating the 2018 Prespa Agreement with Greece.

"The Republic of North Macedonia must not forget that it is a candidate country for EU membership and cannot put conditions on EU member states. It cannot revise international treaties either, because it would label the country as a state that does not respect international law’’, Rumen Radev said as quoted by the presidential press service. He pointed out that he had always extended invitations to counterparts from North Macedonia to visit Bulgaria, because "North Macedonia's road to Brussels passes through Sofia."
