There will be no significant rise in the price of electricity for household users, said caretaker Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov.
“I believe there could be a minimal rise within the bounds of the inflation processes. There exist mechanisms for attaining a lower price,” he said in an interview for bTV but called for patience until the official decision of the energy regulator is announced. Minister Malinov stated further that the government is ready to cover the deficit accumulated by the Electricity System Security Fund from the national budget. This deficit was used as an excuse for the demanded rise in the price of electricity.
On 20 May, the Bulgarian Energy Holding and the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant are expected to submit a new proposal in which the price rise will be reduced considerably. The price of electricity will likely go up by 10%, Minister Malinov stated.
