Energy minister to visit US on new nuclear capacity

Caretaker Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov is leaving this week for a working visit to the US, the Ministry of Energy has announced. 

The purpose of the visit is to hold consultations on the US-Bulgarian project for the construction of nuclear power capacity on the site of Bulgaria's Kozloduy nuclear power plant and Bulgaria's civil nuclear programme. 

The first meeting of the steering committee of the intergovernmental agreement between the two countries will be held in Washington. 

During his visit, Malinov will meet with US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt and Andrew Light, Assistant Secretary of Energy for International Affairs. Opportunities for US construction loans will also be discussed.
