Bulgaria supports the European Commission's intention to withdraw its proposal against Poland under Article 7 of the EU Treaty, caretaker Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov said in Brussels at a regular meeting of the General Affairs Council. The General Affairs Council discussed the procedure in connection with the rule of law in Poland under Art. 7 of the EU Treaty.

Preparations for the upcoming European Council at the end of June are underway. Ukraine is expected to be one of the topics at the European Council. The European Council is expected to discuss defence support for Kyiv and the use of revenues from blocked Russian assets. "Bulgaria expects the European Council to send a strong message of long-term support during this difficult period for Ukraine. Work should be done on formulating an EU strategy for the Black Sea region, especially in view of the changed situation following Russia's aggression against Ukraine," said Ivan Kondov.

Ivan Kondov emphasized that the European Union should send a strong message to North Macedonia to strictly fulfill its commitments and to undertake the necessary reforms without delay, as the most important condition for the country's European integration.
