Battles, games and attractions from ancient history

"Nike - the game and the victory" festival will take place near Veliko Tarnovo

Throughout Saturday, May 25, the Nikopolis ad Istrum archaeological reserve near the town of Veliko Tarnovo will host the 7th edition of the Ancient Festival "Nike - the Game and Victory". 

This year, historical reenactors from Austria, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia and Bulgaria are participating in the event.

The program focuses on the life of the ancient Romans and Goths during late antiquity in Bulgarian lands and will present demonstrations of Roman board games, ancient fashion and hairstyles, audience games, re-enactments of religious rituals, equipment, battle formations and battles, a slave market, gladiatorial games, recitations of ancient poetry, performances of ethno-folk music groups, etc. In addition, guests can taste food and drinks prepared according to original antique recipes. 

The event is organized by the association "Mos Majorum Ulpie Serdice", RIM - Veliko Tarnovo and the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo.
