At the IOC headquarters in Lausanne, the organization’s management stated it was ready to render assistance in drawing up a road map for Bulgaria’s bid to host the Winter Youth Olympics in Sofia so that it can meet the requirements. “Bulgaria is proud of its traditions in winter sports and has accumulated solid experience in organizing international competitions. The country has excellent natural conditions,” said Rumen Radev during the meeting. Thomas Bach on his part stated that Sofia’s proximity to the mountain would facilitate the organization of the event but that the equipment and the infrastructure needed for holding the Youth Olympics needs to be assessed.
