The Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has defined it as "inappropriate" for the Bulgarian government to show hesitation and inconsistency on the subject of Bulgaria's position at the UN on the genocide in Srebrenica. "Bulgaria's position must be clear and consistent, affirming democratic values and principles in the region," he emphasized.

An extraordinary session of the National Assembly was called for June 2 (Sunday), at which the caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev was to be heard about the Bulgarian position on the genocide in Srebrenica. However, the Parliament did not gather a quorum for the meeting.
According to documents published in the media, Dimitar Glavchev ordered the Bulgarian ambassador to the UN, Lachezara Stoeva, to vote "abstain" on the UN resolution, but at the meeting held on May 23, she consistently stated the Bulgarian position, voting "for" .
Bulgaria is a co-sponsor of the UN resolution to declare July 11 as a world day in memory of the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, and Bulgaria's position on the subject has always been unequivocal.
