Bulgaria marks World Blood Donor Day

On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day 2024, blood donation campaigns take place in the country today. Experts from the Bulgarian Organization for Voluntary Blood Donation point out that according to WHO data, voluntarily donated blood is the safest for those who need it. In the capital, the Military Medical Academy organizes a blood donation campaign from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. About 7,000 people a year, military personnel and civilians from military formations, donate blood at the Center for Transfusion Hematology at the Military Medical Academy.

Students, athletes, church officials also take part in the campaign. There will also be a blood donation campaign at the Bulgarian Red Cross headquarters. This year the motto of the World Blood Donor Day is "20 Years of Celebrating Giving: Thank You Blood Donors!".
