Bulgarian police officers are going to France to help French police guarantee security during the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in July and August 2024.

During the preparations for this large-scale sporting event, the French Ministry of Interior asked more than 40 countries to send police on site. In response, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry will dispatch 31 border police officers who will work at Orly airport in Paris and in Perpignan on the French Spanish border. We shall also send 5 canine officers with dogs trained to sniff out explosives who will work in Paris, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry says. Last week, the police officers who are due to leave for Paris met with the French ambassador to Sofia Joël Meyer who stressed that Bulgaria is the first country to have responded to the request for assistance.
