Bishop Sioniy, the abbot of the Troyan and Bachkovo monasteries, brought the relics of the Holy Patriarch Euthymius of Tarnovo to the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky, which announced the event with a bell ringing.

The shrine was placed next to the miraculous icon of the Mother of God "Dostojno est" so that the Bulgarian Patriarch, who is expected to be elected tomorrow, could bow down to this predecessor of his and ask for intercession and help.

"The relics will be covered with an ancient medieval shroud from the time of the Holy Patriarch Euthymius. They are coming to show the spiritual continuity of the Bulgarian Patriarchate, to bless, to consecrate the entire Spiritual Council that will elect the new first hierarch, the high priest of our native Church, and to sanctify and bless the capital city," Bishop Sioniy said.

The veneration of the holy relics will take place on Monday, when the newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia will serve his first Patriarchal Holy Mass.
