People in Bulgaria are well aware of the causes and the consequences of climate change, but are uninformed as to the ways to tackle it, indicate data from the latest 6th climate survey by the European Investment Bank.

The survey was conducted among more than 30,000 respondents in 35 countries. With their knowledge in “definitions and causes” (7.19), “consequences” (7.32) and “solutions” (3.81) to climate problems, Bulgarians score 6.10 out of 10 points, positioning them a little below the average level for the EU of 6.37. Top of the list is Finland with a score of 7.22. Similar to most EU countries, few Bulgarians – 29% - are able to correctly define an individual’s carbon footprint as “the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions emitted by a person in a year.”
