Reactor No. 6 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant was reconnected to the national electricity system at 9 AM on 8 July. The reactor was disconnected on 15 June for planned preventive maintenance of the functioning of a non-nuclear transformer and a subsequent leak from a steam generator. After the repair work, tests and trials of the equipment were conducted in accordance with the safe exploitation requirements. The tests conducted by independent experts from the Nuclear Regulatory Agency confirmed the reliability of the equipment and the systems, the NPP has announced. The loading of the reactor will be carried out in stages, in accordance with the technological regulations. Kozloduy NPP’s reactor No. 5 is functioning according to schedule, the nuclear power plant states further.

Because of a staff technological error, during the repair work, the executive director of the power station Valenin Nikolov was replaced.
