Major repairs to Danube bridge at Ruse begin

Major repairs to the Danube bridge at Ruse begin on 10 July, the Road Infrastructure Agency has announced.

The work will be carried out daily during daylight hours for 10-12 hours a day, depending on the specific work to be carried out, and there will be no complete closure of the road. Vehicles will travel in both directions and will pass through the lane that is not being worked on.

The work will be carried out in six phases. In the first two, the main repair of the overpass on Bulgarian territory will be carried out and a section of about 400 metres will be closed to allow the work to be carried out. Traffic will be restricted first in the lane leading to Bulgaria and then in the lane leading to Romania. The estimated time for completion of the repair work on this section is approximately four and a half months for each lane.
