More than 100 cyclists from all over the country will take part in the 4th edition of the Momchilovtsi cycling tour, Momchilovtsi mayor Siyka Surkova said.

The cycling tour is not competitive, its purpose is to popularize the beauty of the Rhodope Mountain and the cycling opportunities in the area.

The participants will follow a route that is almost 100 kms. long, and which starts and finishes in Momchilovtski, passing through Smolyan, Trun, Stoyanov Most, Banite.

“The summer season is starting with a heightened tourist interest during the very first weeks,” says mayor Surkova, and adds that the hotels are filled almost to capacity on weekends, and that the tourists coming here are from Bulgaria, but also from Great Britain, Germany and China. “Besides being a destination for mountain biking, hiking and eco-vacations, Momchilovtsi has of late developed as a wedding tourism location,” Siyka Surkova added.
