Bulgaria is actively working with Greece and Romania to secure EU funding for infrastructure projects to be used for both military and civilian purposes.
This is what Bulgaria's Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov explained to the MPs in Parliament today. He was asked by MPs from Vazrazhdane pary about the agreement with Athens and Bucharest signed in Washington at the NATO summit called "Military Schengen".

The movement of military personnel and combat equipment should be ensured in peacetime by harmonising the use of transport corridors. This is also a key area for EU-NATO cooperation under the auspices of the European Defence Agency.

This is being done through targeted investment in Europe's transport infrastructure to the tune of EUR 25.8 billion. The EU provides up to 50% of the funding for transport projects, it can reach up to 80%. The remaining money must come from member states, the minister stressed.
