Under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, Spain has said it will send two aircraft, each with a capacity of around 6 tonnes, to help fight the wildfires in Bulgaria. It is likely that the flying machines will be able to join the extinguishing efforts as early as tomorrow, Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov said. He is still in the area of the Yambol villages, where the fire situation remains dynamic.

"We are starting to contain one of the fronts, but the temperature remains high, and there are strong winds. In some places the fire is still developing at its peak, which makes it difficult for us. For this reason, we are working here today with 4 helicopters - those of the Ministry of Defence and those sent from the Czech Republic," Stoyanov said.

On one of the fronts of the fire, which affected Krajnovo, Strandzha, Golyam Dervent and Voden, the Interior Ministry is working together with its counterparts from Turkey.

"There is no danger to people, there is a lot of firefighting equipment," the minister said, expressing confidence that the joint efforts would lead to a gradual containment of the fires.

It has been raining in the Yambol region over the past hour. And in the municipality of Bolyarovo, they expect rain to fall over the places where a fire has been raging for the fourth day.

Bolyarovo municipality has announced a donation campaign for the people affected by the fires, the municipal press centre said. The mayor of the municipality Hristo Hristov expressed his gratitude for the assistance to his colleagues from the municipalities of Elhovo and Tundzha, to the region of Edirne, to the firefighters, farmers, forestry officials involved in the extinguishing, as well as to the citizens who called to express their sympathy.
