Bulgarian students with high results at the International Mathematics Olympiad

The best Bulgarian students in mathematics have won 5 medals by participating in the most prestigious mathematics competition in the world for 2024. At the 65th International Mathematics Olympiad, the Bulgarian national team won 3 silver and 2 bronze medals and a certificate of honor, reported by the Association of Olympic Science Teams. 

The Olympiad took place from July 11 to 22 in Great Britain and brought together 609 students from 108 countries. The silver medals were won by Marin Hristov, Angel Hristov and Bilyana Dimitrova, who achieved the fourth result in the world among the 81 participating girls. The bronze medals went to Veselin Markovic and Boris Gachevsky, and Viktor Kostadinov deserved an honorary certificate, being very close to receiving a medal. 

Their supervisors are Prof. Stanislav Harizanov from the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies and the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Assist. Prof. Stoyan Boev, and the observer is Dragomir Grozev.

In the team ranking, Bulgaria took a respectable 27th place in the world and 11th in Europe with 126 points, falling from 25th place in 2023.
