The European Commission has presented the annual report on the rule of law in the EU. The Commission notes the changes adopted in the Constitution of Bulgaria.

Sofia is once again recommended to undertake legal changes to avoid the long-term secondment of judges to fill vacancies; to prepare a bill to improve the work of the Inspectorate at the Supreme Judicial Council and to avoid the danger of political influence; to improve the investigation and conviction rates of high-level corruption; to introduce integrity requirements in government work and corresponding penalties; to continue work to improve transparency in state advertising, especially when contracted through intermediaries.
