Divine Holy Liturgy in the submerged church near Zhrebchevo

The Divine Liturgy will be served in the submerged church by the Zhrebchevo dam for the sixth year in a row on August 3 (Saturday) at 9:00 a.m. by Metropolitan Cyprian of Stara Zagora.

The church was built in 1891 in the village of Zapalnya, which stopped to exist by a decree from 1965, due to the construction of the "Zhrebchevo" dam. The last service in the past century was on April 28, 1963, when the son of priest Dragan Stoykov got married. In 2019, Metropolitan Cyprian decided to restore the services. Then God-loving Christians began reconstruction and partial restoration of the church with their own funds. The facade of the church has been completely strengthened, a concrete floor lined with stone has been build, a cross and window frames have been installed.
