Traffic is busy at Danube Bridge checkpoint on the border with Romania

The traffic of cars and trucks in the area of ​​the Danube Bridge border crossing between Bulgaria and Romania is extremely busy and the waiting time is almost two hours on the Romanian side. 

The reason is the increased tourist flow due to the four non-working days around the feast of the Assumption of the Theotokos in Bulgaria's northern neighbour. Although a simplified regime for crossing the border has been introduced, the queue of cars and trucks waiting to enter Bulgaria is more than 3 kilometers long. 


On the Bulgarian side, the traffic is also busy and the trucks wait to cross the border for about 5 hours on average. According to the border authorities, the traffic will increase until the evening hours of today and they warn that an even heavier traffic is expected on Sunday, when the vacation of Romanian citizens will end.



On July 10, the Bulgarian section of the Danube Bridge went under a major renovation.
