Parental organizations defend the changes in the Preschool and School Education Act

About 40 parent organizations from across the country supported changes to the Preschool and School Education Act, banning the propaganda of non-traditional sexual orientation in schools. According to them, the Constitution allows the restriction of freedom of expression when it is necessary to protect public order, health and morals, as well as the rights of other citizens.

Parents believe that the changes protect children's development by limiting the dissemination of information related to sexual diversity among minors. This is the reason they sent an open letter to international organizations and institutions, including the UN, the European Parliament and the European Commission. In it, they point out that Bulgaria is a sovereign state that has the right and obligations to regulate public education and morals in accordance with its national interests and legal order.

The changes in the law do not contradict international and European legislation, the parent organizations claim.
