The Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia Hristijan Mickoski stated that there will be personnel changes in the Joint Multidisciplinary Commission on Historical and Educational Issues between Bulgaria and North Macedonia, MIA reports. According to Hristijan Mickoski, the current commission has not lived up to expectations and “does not uphold the national interests of the Macedonian people”. “There is no political context. It is a normal thing for the new government, the new people who are going to govern with the new government to make personnel changes,” he said.

The Joint Multidisciplinary Commission on Historical and Educational Issues between Bulgaria and North Macedonia was set up as a result of the treaty of goodneighbourliness signed between the Republic of North Macedonia and Bulgaria on 1 August, 2017. Its aim is to resolve controversial issues between the two countries, and its members are historians and lecturers from the two countries.
