Tension is running high between police and members of the public in front of a house in Sofia’s suburb Boyana where the honorary chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) lives, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports.

Things came to a head after Danail Papazov – former transport minister and until recently business associate of Ahmed Dogan, declared he was the rightful owner of the so-called “serai” where Ahmed Dogan lives - in Rosenets park on the Black Sea and in Boyana - and demanded that MRF’s honorary chairman vacate these properties immediately. Supporters of Ahmed Dogan gathered in front of the mansion in Boyana last night worried that belongings of his and documents were being taken out of the house.

Some of the people gathered in front of the house in Boyana attempted to enter the property which is being guarded by police. The MRF supporters say that Danail Papazov has nothing to do with what has been happening, and that if he is involved then he has been forced to.
