Eurostat: 44% of Bulgarians cannot afford a week's holiday away from home

Bulgaria takes second place after Romania among the countries in the European Union according to the Eurostat factor "Inability of people to afford a one-week annual holiday away from home". The data show significant inequalities and imbalances in the opportunities of citizens, and for many of them vacation is a privilege.

According to the survey, 60% of Romanians do not take a vacation because they cannot afford it. This applies to 44% of Bulgarians and 43% of Hungarians, while in Norway only 8% of people experience economic difficulties.

Twenty-eight percent of Bulgarians and Romanians travelled once in 2022, according to Eurostat data.
