US Ambassador Kenneth Merten and the Mayor of the port city of Varna, Blagomir Kotsev, discussed the opportunities for American companies to invest in the city in the fields of tourism and energy.
This is the first official visit of H.E. Merten to Varna since the beginning of his term of office in 2023, reports BGNES. Ambassador Merten expressed his admiration for what he saw during a tour of the Sea Garden and the Roman Baths. His programme in the city includes a visit to the Regional History Museum, which houses the oldest gold treasure in the world. Kotsev noted that Varna has a rich historical heritage, which his team is trying to preserve for future generations.
"It is the ambition of our team to ensure that this heritage is presented in the way it deserves, and this requires investment and more active promotion of cultural tourism opportunities," he added.
