The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, has promised support to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, for the purchase of the reactors from Bulgaria, bTV reported.

The goal is to use the Russian equipment from the unfinished project for the Bulgarian Belene NPP  for the Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plant in Ukraine. "This will help Ukraine ensure that this ongoing project continues to be implemented in accordance with safety standards," the agency said.

Bulgaria is currently discussing and negotiating a loan for another nuclear project - for two new units of the Kozloduy NPP with reactors from the US company Westinghouse.
