The combination of a favorable climate, beautiful nature, mineral water springs and healing mud in Bulgaria favors the development of resort treatment. During the 11th Annual Congress of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism, Dr. Antoaneta Grozeva, Director of the Medical College at "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" University in Burgas pointed out that this country has over 100 years of traditions in balneotherapy, BTA reported.

At the two-day congress in Burgas (Septemeber 9-10) Prof. Grozeva also pointed out that Bulgaria has many opportunities for providing sea treatment and for the development of medical tourism, which dates back to 1965. The resorts of Albena, Saints Constantine and Helena, Golden Sands and Pomorie are among the most famous centers on the Black Sea coast, Assoc. Prof. Grozeva said. For example, in the "Burgas Mineral Baths" sanatorium, opened in 1954, the treatment is very effective because of the mineral water, which has exceptional composition, very good qualities, suitable temperature and can be used for external and internal balneotherapy for many diseases. The water contains silicon, which has recently been used in anti-aging therapy.
