Bulgaria has always been open to dialogue with North Macedonia and expects that this dialogue will contribute not only to our cultural rapprochement, but also to the strengthening of economic cooperation. We expect that this dialogue will finally resolve the outstanding issues between us, said President Rumen Radev, commenting on his upcoming meeting with North Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.

Davkova is coming to Sofia unofficially to attend the Macedonian National Opera's guest performance of Verdi's Nabucco. According to Radev, the outstanding issues should be resolved on the basis of the Treaty of Friendship, Good-Neighbourliness and Cooperation.

In parliament, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev also stressed that Sofia would not renegotiate its position on the opening of EU membership talks with North Macedonia.
