Weather forecast for 16 September

Cloudy skies on the first day of school

There will be thick cloud cover overnight and rain showers in places, especially in central areas. Morning fog will develop in the valleys and lowlands. There will be light to moderate winds from the west-northwest. 

Minimum temperatures will be between 6 and 11°C, around 7°C in Sofia. During the day, clouds will break and clear over western and central Bulgaria, while the rest of the country will remain overcast and rainy. There will be light winds from the north-northwest. Maximum temperatures will be between 17°C and 22°C, around 17°C in Sofia.

Over the mountains there will be considerable cloud and rain in some places, and light snow above 2,000 metres. There will be moderate winds from west-southwest. Maximum temperatures will be around 12°C at 1,200 metres and around 4°C at 2,000 metres.

Over the Black Sea coast there will be mostly clouds. Light to moderate winds will blow from north-northwest. Maximum temperatures will be 24°-25°C, the same as the sea water temperature.
