On the first day of school, caretaker Minister of Education and Science Prof. Galin Tsokov greeted principals, school teachers and educational specialists at educational establishments, first graders and students, and parents. Calling the day a feast of knowledge, Minister Tsokov stated that at school, children accumulate knowledge but are also formed as people. That is why “the most important task facing the system of education is to teach them to be good people, a mission generations of Bulgarian pedagogues have been accomplishing unselfishly and with dedication,” Minister Tsokov said, and went on to address the children, saying they must never stop dreaming and forming friendships, and never forget that at school they can find understanding and support. The minister of education also addressed the Bulgarian schools abroad “which, through knowledge, help thousands of children in their dreams and in keeping the memory of Bulgaria alive”. “Today we are celebrating together because Bulgaria is wherever there is at least one Bulgarian heart beating,” Galin Tsokov said.
