Bulgaria’s top tennis player Grigor Dimitrov has given Team Europe a lead in the Laver Cup – the men's team tennis tournament between Team Europe and Team World.

Dimitrov won versus Alejandro Tabilo, Chile 7-6(4) 7-6(2) in 2 hours 17 minutes of play, winning five straight games and closing the match in the subsequent tiebreak. Grigor’s victory, who is replacing Rafael Nadal in the Laver Cup, brought Team Europe one point.

The Bulgarian tennis player took part in the Laver Cup in 2018 when he played one singles match versus Frances Tiafoe, and one doubles match with David Goffin, helping Team Europe win the trophy against Team World.
