On October 10, the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs Ylva Johansson and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Hungary will propose to the Council of the EU that checks on the land borders of Bulgaria and Romania be abolished.

The decision on the full membership of the two countries is expected to be made by the end of the year, announced Yordanka Chobanova - head of the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria.

"We are now fully integrated into the decision-making bodies of the Schengen system. We issue Schengen visas, which are the most sought-after by citizens and businesses of third countries. The visas we issue are for free travel from Greece to Iceland. The European commission is close to Bulgaria and Romania. We hope for a decision already this year, and with this the European Union will become even stronger," Chobanova stressed.
