The trips of Bulgarian citizens abroad in August 2024 were 903,400, or 8.3% more in comparison to August 2023, the National Statistical Institute has reported.
Trips for the purpose of rest and excursion increased in August by 19.6%, while the number of business trips rose by 3 percent. Visits for training and sports events decreased by 3.6%. The largest number of trips by Bulgarian citizens were made to the Balkans: Turkey - 258,700 and Greece - 249,300. The flow to Romania and Serbia is about 60,000 people. Just 16,600 people travelled to North Macedonia.
The largest relative share of the total number of trips of Bulgarian citizens abroad is those for the purpose of rest and excursion - 52.4%, followed by trips for other purposes - 34.8%, and for business purposes - 12.8%.
