400 foreign citizens who have been granted temporary protection status in Bulgaria will study at Bulgarian state universities in the new 2024/2025 academic year. The number of students was approved by a government decision. The students will be enrolled in the first year of full-time studies in 44 professional fields in 25 higher education institutions in the country. They will be entitled to scholarships, dormitories and will pay fees according to the procedure for Bulgarian students. This will also allow students with temporary protection who have completed their secondary education in Bulgaria to continue their studies at Bulgarian universities, the government said.
Their education will be conducted in Bulgarian. During their first year at the university, they will be able to undergo specialized language training organized by the the university departments.
