Bulgaria and the US discuss holding the next session of the strategic dialogue by the end of the year

Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov met in the United States with John Bass, Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs. The two countries agreed that the next session of the strategic dialogue between Bulgaria and the United States should be held by the end of the year. Ivan Kondov and John Bass discussed Russia's war against Ukraine. Minister Kondov emphasized Sofia's multilateral support for Ukraine. John Bass highlighted Bulgaria's contribution and stressed the need for continued joint efforts to ensure that Ukraine has what it needs for the upcoming winter season.

Minister Kondov raised the issue of concluding a Social Security Agreement, which is essential for Bulgarian citizens in the United States. Visa reciprocity and Bulgaria's inclusion in the US Visa Waiver Program was also a topic of discussion. The U.S. side confirmed its readiness to take concrete steps and organize a visit by a team of experts to Bulgaria for meetings with the relevant institutions, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
